Oceania
No, we have not jumped ship from Holland America Line back to the ships of Oceania, but the islands of the Pacific taken together are known by that name.
There are 20,000 to 30,000 islands in the Pacific Ocean, most of them located South of the Tropic of Cancer. Those are loosely organized into three broad divisions: Micronesia to the Northwest, Melanesia to the Southwest, and Polynesia to the East. Our journey through the South Pacific will take us from Hawaii at the top of Polynesia to Kiribati at the Eastern tip of Micronesia, and back through the heart of Polynesia.
Over the next ten days, we will be calling on the Line Islands of Kiribati, the Cook Islands, and the Society Islands and Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia.
