Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf

Wednesday, December 2nd
Route of the Ancient Traders
Day 22
M/S Nautica
At Sea
Mostly Cloudy - 78 Degrees

We left Muscat last night and continued North through the Gulf of Oman and into the Straight of Hormuz. We woke up this morning, looked out the window, and waved to Iran.

It is incredible to be sailing in a part of the world that has been so much in the news over the last 20 years, and more amazing still to think that we have left dangerous waters behind for the relative safety and security of the Persian Gulf.

As we sailed, we attended another lecture with Dr. Doug Sturkey, "Sugar and Spice - Portugal's Attempt to Control the Arabian Sea Spice Trade - Did They Discover Australia Too?"

Next Stop: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
