Voyage of the Midnight Sun

Monday, June 5th
Edmonds, WA

Well, it's time to go again.  Actually, it was time to go this time last year, but Tres broke a toe, the diagnosis was Charcot, which is French for no go.  He was in a boot, then in surgery, then back in a boot, but now he is up and about and raring to go.

The plan was then, as it is now, the Voyage of the Midnight Sun.  We are flying Icelandair to Reykjavik, then to Amsterdam, and then cruising up the coast of Norway into the Arctic Circle.  On the longest day of the year, we will be in the Land of the Midnight Sun.

Holland America Christened a new ship last year, the ms Koningsdam.  We were scheduled to sail on one of her inaugural voyages, but she should be that much better with a year at sea and with her sea legs fully under her.  She is a looker, fully modern with all new amenities, still a ship that looks like a ship, painted in the blue and white livery of her predecessors and her homeland.
