Sunfarer Day 8
Puerto Limon, Costa Rica
Arriving:  6:30 AM
Departing:  4:30 PM
Cloudy - 85 Degrees

Bad weather forced Christopher Columbus to anchor near what is now Puerto Limon and wait out the storm.  His description of the place would endure.  He said he had seen "more gold in two days than he had seen in four years in Spain."  He named it Costa Rica, The Rich Coast.  Today, Costa Rica claims to be the greenest country in the, world with plans to become carbon neutral by 2030.

We are feeling more green than gold today, looking for some flora and fauna.  The Tortuguero Canals in Tortuguero National Park, known as Costa Rica's Amazon, are a protected system of waterways, marshes, and swamps, meandering through lush jungle foliage that provide critical habitat to many local species.  We boarded a pontoon boat for a cruise through the park.

Landing back at the dock, we enjoyed a fabulous buffet of fresh fruit, followed by a brief visit to a banana plantation.

Next Stop:  Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
